Tile Adventure is a tile-matching game with a match-3 requirement. From level to level, the player must clear patterns of layered tiles. At the end of each one, they receive gold coins. When they complete a specific number of levels, they receive gift boxes. They also unlock various tools and new locations.
The game doesn't have just one theme. It breaks play into location-based chapters that feature different backgrounds. For example, one background displays a stream in a forested area, while another displays cobblestones from a village.
Different chapters also introduce new tile pictures. The first chapter sticks primarily with outdoor late summer images, such as red apples, beach umbrellas, cameras, cans of fish, coffee mugs, flowers, leaves, mushrooms, picnic baskets, pumpkins and sunglasses.
Tile Adventure requires the player to select three instead of two identical tiles at a time. It then transfers the tiles to a seven-space holding area. If the player fills all spaces without creating a three-tile set, they must restart the level.
The player creates sets in several ways. They can make selections of any uncovered tile, even if it's between other tiles. They can wait for the game to shake three tiles as a hint.
Additionally, they can use boosters that unlock over time. They can undo a move, shuffle the tiles to reveal new sets, auto-collect a set with a magnet, and return all tiles in slots back to the field to try different selections.
