The Smurfs: Village Cleaning is a simulation game that focuses on the work of house and community cleaners and repair technicians. Jokey Smurf set off a prank with exploding gift boxes that covered Smurf Village with soot and even broke the property of many Smurfs. Papa Smurf needs the player's help to assist each Smurf with improving their homes.
The player receives a scrubber and a wiper to remove dirt and moisture from items. They start with Vanity Smurf's rug. When they perform a task well, they complete the level and receive up to three orange stars. When they finish helping a specific Smurf, they scrub the exterior of the Smurf's home with a sponge. Eventually, the player receives tools to fix broken items, such as glue to repair broken plates. They must scrub and dry the item as well.
The Smurfs: Village Cleaning rewards the player with decorations for their own home when they reach certain milestones. They can change the colors of their Smurf home's mushroom cap, stem, door and window, the shape of the chimney and the design of the upper window and balcony. They also receive sprayer, wiper, sponge, beater and other tool upgrades over time.
