The Smurfs: Cooking is a restaurant management game that teaches a player how to serve various dishes to hungry customers quickly and efficiently. Chef Smurf needs help perfecting a recipe for the annual Smurf Food Festival. Smurfette recommends that Chef Smurf start by serving simple foods and beverages to the rest of the Smurfs, such as cakes, cookies, cupcakes, donuts and pancakes with jam, icing, iced tea and fruit punch.
The player receives instructions from Chef Smurf about how to make specific meals. The player follows the instructions to provide customers with the dishes. They receive purple Smurf Berries from customers. They must earn a specific number of berries per level to win. When they complete a level, they receive the berries and marshmallows as a bonus. They can multiply their berries by watching an advertisement.
The Smurfs: Cooking offers uncomplicated play. As with similar restaurant games, the cooking stations feature green circular countdown timers that tell the player when to act to prevent food from overcooking and customer agitation. Some customers want plain foods, while others desire snacks and toppings. The player must learn how to multitask to provide service quickly. They eventually receive access to upgrades from Brainy Smurf and boosters that help improve each task.
The game provides the player with opportunities at the Shop and during special events to receive gifts that can help them during play. The player merely needs to watch a certain number of advertisements.
