The Escape Room! is an escape logic-puzzle game. It displays a black background with white chalk drawings that represent parts of a room that features a door with six locks hanging in a vertical column to the right of it. The player must find and solve six puzzles in the room to unlock the locks. When the player succeeds, each lock turns into a colored object.
The room doesn't have a lot of items in it. The player merely needs to roll the cursor over each one, including a three-drawer desk, a desktop computer tower, a cordless phone, an abacus, a fishbowl, two books, an oval mirror, a radiator, a storage box, a potted plant and a picture of a robot or person. When the player hovers the cursor above an item that features a puzzle, the item switches from a white line drawing to a colored one.
The Escape Room! offers fairly straightforward puzzles that require the player to use a combination of common sense, logic, math skills and out-of-the-box thinking. For example, the player might need to reverse letters in a message, create and solve a simple math problem, rearrange tiles on an array, or find an item using a text-and-arrow-based menu system.
