Super Buddy Run is a side-scrolling, running and jumping platformer that offers fun, challenging gameplay in several beautiful-yet-deadly environments.
The player's primary objective is to help the main character run in different worlds. The first is a park setting known as The Forest that features an amusement park or carnival in the background and a running path made of stone walls. The game also has a cavernous underground area known as the Volcano that features technologically advanced structures for the running path and metal platforms and a snowy wilderness called Icelands that features ice structures among snow-covered forests.
The player must also collect stars and presents. With stars, they unlock new buddy skins, such as a buddy that wears a black mask marked with a white star. With presents, they collect special powers, such as a protective, bubble-shaped shield that temporarily protects the character against everything on the running path. They can also use items on the path to propel the buddy character forward, such as spring-style platforms.
Super Buddy Run challenges the player with a lot of obstacles that can kill the buddy, including stinging bees that fly overhead, sharp circular and curved, stationary blades jutting out of the path, pools of water that can cause the character to drown and mace pillars that rise up out of the water. The buddy also dies and the level restarts if the player accidentally runs the character's head into a platform.
