Suika Watermelon Drop is a merge game in the Japanese Suika (i.e., Watermelon) subcategory of puzzle games. These games feature 2048-style merge mechanics. Yet, instead of blocks, tiles, or other inanimate objects, Suika games require a player to merge various types of small anthropomorphic fruits to create larger ones until they finish the "evolution" to form a happy whole watermelon.
In this game, the player merges blueberries, strawberries, lemons, pomegranates, mangoes, oranges, dragon fruits, peaches, melons and coconuts to reach the watermelon. The game displays the evolution on a sidebar to the right of the play area.
The player merges the fruit in a semi-transparent rectangular container. They drop different types of fruit into it using a blue claw with metal tips similar to a toy grabber in a claw machine. The game supplies them with a dashed red vertical line to align each drop. That said, the fruit characters usually bounce and roll around, which means that precision drops aren't always possible.
Suika Watermelon Drop rewards the player with points in the upper-left corner. It also allows them to upgrade the fruit with Halloween and Fantasy themes, if they're willing to watch ad videos. Each theme dresses the fruit in costumes. For example, with the Halloween theme, blueberries become wizards and oranges become mummies.
