Star Crossword is a connect-style word-search puzzle game with an astronomy education theme. It doesn't feature any clues like a traditional crossword puzzle. Instead, the player uses letters to create words based on the number of available spaces above the letter area. They perform these tasks to reveal constellations and earn coins. If they have an account, they also participate in competitive play to earn a top gold trophy rank.
The game displays the letters on a circle. The player draws a blue connecting line from the first letter of a word through all the letters until they reach the last one. If they guess a correct word, the game auto-transfers the letters to the spaces. The player can also discover bonus words.
Star Crossword assists the player with a couple of tools. It supplies a double-arrows icon in the center of the circle that helps the player discover or remember words by shuffling the letters into new positions. To the upper-right of the circle, the player can use a crescent moon card to reveal a letter on a space. They can also access this tool by viewing videos. At Level 31, they can use a super hints tool as well.
