Spider Solitaire 2048 is a merge game. Although it has a Spider Solitaire theme, it's most similar to 2048 and Suika drop-style merge games.
The player drops and merges round balls modeled after standard playing cards into a dark green container. Their primary objective is to merge identical ball cards to create higher-valued ones in an evolution that ends with King cards. They also attempt to earn a high score in the upper-center area.
The game starts with seven ball cards resting along the container bottom. It doesn't require the player to rearrange cards into descending top-down columns like traditional Spider Solitaire. Instead, it makes the player drop cards onto equal- or higher-value cards from the same suit.
Spider Solitaire 2048 merges identical cards in the first scenario, which results in the formation of the next-highest-value card. For example, two 2 of hearts cards create a 3 of hearts. The player can't drop a 2 of hearts onto a 2 of clubs or a 3 of hearts onto a 2 of hearts.
In the second scenario, the player might drop a 2 of hearts onto a short column that contains a 3 of hearts atop a 4 card from the same suit. If they then drop a matching 2 card on top of this reverse descending order column of cards, they set off a chain reaction:
The merge forms a 3 of hearts that merges with the existing 3 card. The resulting 4 of hearts merges with the existing 4 card to create a 5 of hearts card at the bottom of the column. The player always creates new higher-value cards near the bottom.
