Solitaire Farm is a theme-based solitaire game based around progressing as a farmer through four seasons. The player must successfully play each game of solitaire by clearing all of the cards from the play area to reach a new level of the more than 70 levels of the game. As they progress through the game, they travel along a stone path on a farm map that gives them options to plant and harvest crops and perform other tasks.
To start, the player taps the "Start" button. The game walks them through how to clear cards in Level 1. It positions the cards upside down in stacks. The player must tap the cards from lowest-to-highest or highest-to-lowest order as seen with regular solitaire ( A, 1, 2, 3... 10, J, Q, K). As the player clears cards, they earn coins they can use to spend on items for their farm. When the player clears all of the cards successfully, the game congratulates them and fireworks go off.
It's important to note that the game doesn't allow a player to turn off the sound until they pass Level 1. It also doesn't provide an obvious restart option. If the player makes a mistake while playing and wants to start over, they must clear their browser's cache.
After the tutorial, the player is taken to a "Level Complete" pop-up window. They can then go to the farm by tapping the "Continue" button. The farm shows them items that they can interact with and use to progress through the levels on the stone path and grow and harvest crops. The gear at the bottom left corner of the screen allows them to turn off the music and sound.
In Level 2 and beyond, the game provides only some of the cards at the center of the play area. The player must pull cards from a deck by tapping them. If they clear all of the cards at the center, the game clears the deck cards and awards the player with additional coins. As the game progresses, the player receives new challenges, such as clearing cards in a new order or cards of one color first.
