Solitaire Career is a single-player card game that features unique rules and a work theme. Against a green tabletop or high-rise office background, the game displays four rows of face-up cards. The player's only goal is to attempt to earn as many cumulative points as possible from round to round by performing specific actions to move a highlighted card from the rightmost corner position on the bottom row to the top row.
The player uses the menu button in the upper-right corner to select the background, card face style and a difficulty level. They can choose classic suit colors and designs or cards marked with ancient coins and diamonds. They can only select an Easy or a Hard mode.
With Solitaire Career's Easy mode, the player can move any card except the highlighted one left or right across or through up to two cards, or four spaces, to replace a card that has the suit or value. With Hard, they can only move the other cards left.
With both modes, the player moves the highlighted card left. They can replace an adjacent card with the same suit or value or move it across one card, or three spaces, to replace a card of the same suit or value in the third position.
A replaced card always disappears from the field. This process prompts the game to slide the remaining cards left and up. The game also permits wraparound action. As long as the player follows the rules, they can select a card somewhere on the far left of a row and move it up to four spaces to the far right of the row above it.
