Snake King is a single-player snake game similar to the Blockade, Google Snake and Snake games. The player directs a light blue snake with dark blue stripes and a red jutting tongue to slither around on the surface of a 20x10 two-tone blue checkerboard-style arena. Their goals are to make it eat apples, grapes, oranges and other fruit; protect it from harm; and earn as many points as possible.
The player can only direct the snake to move up, down, left and right incrementally, square by square, or along partial or complete rows and columns. For example, they might direct it to move left or right along three row squares and then up or down a column. If they allow it to touch a wall or any part of its body with the tip of its tongue, it dies. They must start over or view an advertising video to revive it.
Snake King makes the snake's body grow longer each time it consumes fruit. The player must quickly and strategically change its direction to direct it to consume food that appears randomly and prevent it from sliding into anything.
Although the game tracks the player's best score, it doesn't display this information on the play screen. Instead, the player must compare their current and best scores after they lose.
