Shopaholic Tokyo is a dress-up game with a Japanese fashion theme. The player picks an avatar to represent them in a virtual Tokyo. While in the region, they receive invitations to the latest events and parties. They must find the correct outfits to match the dress code for every venue.
After the player receives their first invitation, they use their starting balance and a one-time bonus to buy an outfit and accessories. They receive additional money every day. If they buy the right clothes, they earn money and stars. Their ultimate goal is to use the stars to buy a wedding dress.
Shopaholic Tokyo features a lot of fun gameplay. The player compares the icons on the invitation with a store list to find the stores that carry matching clothes. They must find an outfit before the event or party ends. They use a map icon and onscreen arrow buttons to explore the city. After they find matching clothing, they select and purchase it and return to a home setting to dress the character.
The player also receives rewards for completing achievements related to progress with levels, coins, stars, stores, items and events. For example, they win an award if they achieve a certain level of fame, buy an item for a specific amount, buy on-sale items or attend specific themed parties. They also receive bonus cash by interacting with city elements. Lastly, they snap outfit, event, party and talent scout photos to save in-game or on their device.
