Shape Crusher is a shooting game with an old-school, arcade setup that features variations of a classic starfighter spaceship on a black background with a gray grid. The player's mission is reach the highest score possible by shooting rapidly moving single and groups of shapes, including small and large squares, rectangles, hexagons and triangles. The hot pink targets break like glass when hit and turn into green diamond shapes that double as points.
The ship automatically fires its guns. The player must merely move it around to direct the shots, collect coins and prevent it from touching shapes. The game ends any time the ship touches a whole shape or drops below the red line near the bottom of the grid. Thankfully, any points and coins gained transfer between games. The player uses the coins to pay for weapons and an option to continue after a crash.
Shape Crusher automatically offers an upgraded ship with different firing capabilities after the player reaches a certain number of points. The ship might feature, for example, more barrels, bigger rounds or lasers. The game offers these capabilities temporarily as add-ons at different times as well. The player might suddenly receive an opportunity to add back cannons or a laser to their ship during play.
The game even provides free surprises, including a present with a bow that floats among the shapes and a treasure chest that opens when the player reaches 10,000 points.
