Sandris is a Tetris-style block-puzzle game similar to Sandrix. Instead of attempting to create lines with solid blocks, as seen with Tetris, the player attempts to create and remove irregular wall-to-wall bands of colored sand using polyomino block shapes. To win, they need to achieve the highest score and level possible.
Against odd-cut stone block walls, the player directs the positions of polyomino shapes that drop into a container from above. They can rotate a block or direct it to move left or right. They can also speed up the block's descent. When it hits the bottom of the container, it turns into a pile of sand. When another block hits the pile, it also falls apart into sand grains.
Sandris requires the player to think outside the box. The player's goal isn't to create horizontal lines. Instead, they must connect the same color of sand, even if only by a few grains, from one wall to the other one in any final shape. As a result, they must consider how sand acts naturally in the world. Instead of staying in a shape, for example, sand spreads out. The grains tend to roll down piles either in a large flow or grain by grain.
If the player fails a level, they must try to achieve the highest score from scratch. That said, they can continue to play from their last unlocked level.
