Red Ball 4: Vol. 3 (Box Factory) is the third chapter of the five-chapter Red Ball 4 saga. With the player's help, Red Ball has defeated the ninja cubes and their boss in the Deep Forest of Vol. 2. The player must now help Red Ball roll and bounce through the toxic, industrial landscape of the Box Factory where the Gray Cubes use machinery to transform captured red balls into cubes.
Red Ball must defeat small, exploding robot cubes that guard the path leading to the factory and then face off against the Robot Boss cube who oversees the experiments. The player directs Red Ball along metal causeways past sewer drains, across swinging chain platforms that break at a touch, through hydraulic presses and away from blue laser beams. They also use metal balls to crush robot cubes and block and turn off lasers. Along the way, they collect stars to receive silver and gold achievement awards.
The Boss fight in Vol. 3 isn't like the previous two games. It requires the player to have perfect timing and hand-eye coordination. That said, they can use the explosive power of the robot cube minions as a weapon against the Robot Boss. If they're successful, they force the Gray Cubes to flee Red Ball's world and turn the polluted land into clean, sunlit meadows and green hills.
