Pottery Master is a casual skill game with realistic pottery-making elements. In an art studio, it challenges the player to mold, carve, and paint red and white clay.
The player receives a cylinder of clay on a tabletop-style potter's wheel. A virtual hand and green-ringed white dots show them how to use their game controls. If they perform a task correctly, the dots turn green.
On each level, the player shapes and refines the clay's appearance to match an outline of a piece with invisible hands, three wood-handled, metal-tipped ribbon tools, a yellow sponge, three paintbrushes and 10 circular paint pots. They must have excellent hand-eye coordination and patience and use caution and precise movements.
The game doesn't give the player an option to use extra clay if they remove too much with their tools. They can only increase the cylinder's size in vertical and horizontal directions during the first step. As a result, it's always better for them to have too much clay when they start using the three handheld tools than too little.
Pottery Master attempts to trick the player into making mistakes in several ways. Shadows during the tool refinement process can make the player believe incorrectly that they still need to remove more clay. The sponge acts like a dry sponge. It can remove too much and make the surface too rough. The player must always try to smooth surfaces as much as possible during the shaping and loop tool refinement steps.
