Poppytile is a tile-matching game with a farm theme. It combines non-restricted uncovered tile matching and match-3 play. On a winding road through farms across different seasons and historical time periods, the player must remove one or more layers of round-cornered tiles in sets of three from hundreds of levels.
The initial levels offer a fun backdrop that features a rustic farm in the mountains with a red barn, log cabin and windmill. The player removes tiles that display common farm objects, such as blue tractors, cherries, chickens, corncobs, cucumbers, eggplants, grapes, green apples, milk bottles and pitchers, happy pigs, pumpkins, sunflowers and watermelon slices.
The player can select any uncovered highlighted tiles, including pieces between other tiles. They can't select any covered ones partially hidden by shadows. They receive seven slots below the field to sort and uncover tiles. They can only use all the slots if at least three of the seven tiles match to form a set. They can also use boosters to reveal and collect a set, shuffle all the remaining tiles, reverse a previous move, and install an extra slot.
The game places several obstacles in the player's way to make each level more challenging and enjoyable. For example, the player must select and transfer tiles labeled with a question mark on some levels before they can see the icons. On other levels, they must match more tiles that are smaller than normal.
Poppytile rewards the player with coins. If the player is willing to watch an advertisement, they can earn triple their rewards. They can track their bank balance in the upper-right corner. If they run out of boosters, they can buy more with this money.
