Popping Candies is a match-3 puzzle game with a sweet theme. Across levels, a pastry chef needs the player's help to perform various tasks in her kitchen. The player completes tasks by matching candies on boards and performing other actions. Their goals are to earn coins, collect stars, and unlock levels.
The player receives a bonus of coins each day. They can also earn coins via the upper-left TV icon and an ad view on the home screen. If they have enough money, they can earn additional coins and boosters via an upper-right bonus spin wheel.
On each level, the game displays the task, the number of available moves, and a star progress bar on the left side. The boards appear at the center of the screen. The player removes three or more of the same candies with each move or uses special items and boosters to remove single pieces, mixed pieces in bomb blast areas, and entire columns and rows. Common tasks include collecting a specific number of candies and sugary squares under pieces.
Popping Candies allows the player to start a level by paying for some boosters with coins. They can also use four booster buttons in the upper-left corner with coins and ad views. The boosters allow them to pay for five extra moves, use a hand to swap two candies anywhere on a board, explode an area with a chocolate skull bomb, and destroy one candy with a star-shaped lollipop bomb.
