PopCats: Merge the Cats! is a merge game that features Suika mechanics. The player drops the heads of cats into a container to create new, larger types until they reach the last type and earn a high score.
The game presents the player with the cat heads one by one, directly above the container. The player can only merge two identical heads to form a new one. To drop each head with accuracy, they use a paw prints aiming line. The game also supplies information about each type of new cat via portraits on a horizontal evolution track below the container. After the player creates two of the last cat heads, they finish by merging the cats. The player loses the game if they allow the cat heads to stack up beyond a horizontal line at the top of the container.
PopCats: Merge the Cats! offers several useful boosters. The player can remove any cat head from the container with a yarn ball icon in the upper-left area. They can skip dropping a cat head with the cardboard box icon in the upper-right corner.
The player can keep track of their points in the upper-center area above the container.
