Pop Party is a merge game that begins with a classic Suika (i.e., Watermelon) theme. The player must complete the evolution of items by dropping and merging identical anthropomorphic fruit, such as blueberries, cherries, oranges, dragon fruit, apples, coconuts, melons and pineapples, in a see-through container with the goal of eventually creating a whole watermelon.
The game shows a preview of the next available item to drop in the upper-right area. The player uses a narrow, red, vertical targeting line to make precision drops. At random intervals, a fly moves across the screen and drops pieces into the container. If the player views an advertising video, they can use bug spray on it.
Pop Party penalizes the player with a game loss if they allow the pieces to pile up past a red horizontal line. That said, power-ups found in the lower-right area prevent this event. The player can create room by using black skull-faced bombs to destroy individual pieces, down-arrow potion bottles to devolve pieces, and multicolored spike bombs to destroy one type at a time. They can also start over partially by using a claw to remove most pieces. Tornadoes shake the container to force merges. An up-arrow potion bottle levels up one piece in the evolution, which makes it easier to create the watermelon after the pineapple.
The player receives one hundred star-embossed coins for each thousand points as winnings. For example, 2,140 points equal 214 coins. They also receive coins by achieving specific goals, claiming daily rewards, playing a lucky spin wheel, and viewing videos. They can use this money to purchase power-ups and unique themes, such as vegetables, sports balls, cryptocurrency coins and animal heads.
