Pool Party 2 is a match-3 puzzle game in a water-park setting where the main character, Bunn Bunn Bunny, needs the player's help completing certain tasks by popping a variety of vibrantly colored water balloons.
The game has a Story Mode and a Tournament Mode. In Story Mode, the player accesses each level via donut-shaped tubes floating down a stream in the water park. To complete a level, they must complete a task using a board of the water balloons arranged in a pattern on horizontal and vertical rows. For example, they might need to remove a certain number of balloons of the same color, clean algae spots from a pool or break ice blocks encasing balloons. The only way the player can collect balloons and other items is by popping three or more of the same color in a connected line. In Tournament Mode, the player must still pop balloons using match-3 rules, but they achieve the best score within so many moves rather than complete a task.
The player receives a limited number of moves in both modes and must use different strategies to win. For example, if they match four balloons, they can create a Line Blast that takes out an entire row. If they match three vertical and three horizontal rows together, they can create a Cross Blast that clears two entire rows. If they match five balloons, they can create a multicolored Balloon Bomb that bursts all balloons of a specific color at the same time. They can even combine two Balloon Bombs to clear the entire board!
Yet, these methods aren't the only options. A player can also use special boosters, such as a Swap Booster that swaps the positions of any two balloons and a Water Gun Booster that breaks any balloon the player selects. The player can win additional boosters by unlocking gifts and treasure chests. As they play, they also collect coins that they can use to buy more boosters.
