Pirate Treasures, also known as Pirate Treasure Jewels and Gems, is a puzzle game in which the player, as the new captain of a pirate ship, finds loot and saves the day via match-3 play. With the help of veteran pirate Oliver, the player earns points and gold doubloons by collecting diamonds, emeralds, rubies and other precious gems and items on checkerboards across hundreds of levels and 10 adventure-packed episodes.
As with most match-3 games, the player swaps two different adjacent gems within one move of two connected matching ones on a column or row to create a line and remove the jewels and other items from the board. They also make lines of four or more to create special lightning gems that remove entire columns and rows.
When the player matches five gems, they create a rainbow star jewel that removes all gems of the same type. If the player swaps it with a special lightning gem, all gems of the same color gain the lightning power. The game also features boosters that offer similar special benefits. A pirate hammer with crosshairs allows the player to target any single gem. They can also manually direct lightning to target any selected column or row.
Pirate Treasure challenges the player with many classic obstacles, including wooden crates, locks and chains, and ice panes atop the squares. The game also tasks the player with revealing objects hidden beneath the gems and ice, such as gold goblets and precious gemstone jewelry (i.e., crowns, pendants, rings and scepters).�
