Pet Connect EX is a casual connect-style tile-matching game that features fantasy pets similar to the monsters in Digimon, Dynamons and Pok�mon branded games. Instead of training these creatures to fight in battle arenas, the player merely needs to match pairs of identical monster tiles using connecting lines. Their goal is to remove all tiles from bokeh-bubble backdrops across levels. The game has no timer and offers relaxing play.
Unlike most connect-style tile-matching games, Pet Connect EX doesn't display connected lines in the empty areas beyond the outside tile borders or across the gaps. Instead, each line appears as a single, straight, glowing connection between two identical tiles. That said, the player must keep in mind that they can only connect adjacent tiles sharing a side and tiles that would normally have no more than three connection lines, or two 90-degree angles, between them along the borders of the playfield or across gaps.
Pet Connect X randomly slides one or more remaining tiles into new positions and intermittently auto-shuffles all the leftover tiles. The player can work faster with the game's magnifier hint button, which outlines two matching tiles with green borders. They receive an initial 20 hints. If they're willing to view ad videos, they can access five more at a time. Access to extra hints is important because the game removes an unused hint if the player accidentally double-clicks the magnifier button.
