Pencil Rush 3D is a casual, endless runner in which a player takes control of colorful pencils that draw lines as they race down a long white surface suspended in the air. The player's main goal is to collect as many pencils as possible during the run so that they can paint pictures and display the art on a gallery wall.
The white track features a wide variety of obstacles designed to stop the player entirely or at least separate them from collected pencils. Obstacles include falling books, panes of glass, cameras, cups, giant compass drawing tools, pushpins, potted plants, popup cacti, alligator-shaped staplers, pencil sharpeners, flowers in vases, tubes of paint, toothbrushes, stuffed animals and pencil cases. The player can also lose pencils if they drift too close to the sides of the track or an object suddenly jumps or slides into their path. If they direct the pencils off one of the sides entirely, they lose that level and must start over from the beginning of the run.
The player also earns coins when they complete a level. They can use this money to buy more pencils and make collecting easier by increasing pencil and paint strength. They can even change the pencil skins to golden, galaxy and glitter themes and swap the decorative frames used around their artwork.
