Peg Solitaire is a single-player game in the patience or solitaire category of games that includes card and non-card puzzles. The player's goal is to attempt to discard all but one peg on a pegboard following specific discard rules.
The glossy tops of the dark-colored pegs form a cross three columns wide and seven rows high against a light-colored background shaped like a square with round corners. The player's objective is to finish the game with only one peg at the center of the empty circular spaces.
The player removes a peg by jumping a peg over it and into an adjacent empty space. For example, the player might jump a far right peg over an adjacent left one into an empty space on the left. The game then automatically removes the stationary peg. The empty hole can be anywhere. As a result, if the empty space is on the far right, then the player would jump a left peg over a right adjacent one into the right hole.
Peg Solitaire seems fairly simple at first, but the shape of the pattern makes it difficult to remove every peg or leave behind only one in the center. If the player clears the board in under 10 minutes, they earn a bonus in addition to their normal score. The player can track the time on a timer below the board and the score above it.
