Paper Flight is a side-scrolling, obstacle course game similar to infinite and level-up, running platformers. Unlike the majority of running platformers, it features a beige, paper airplane instead of a classic anthropomorphic object or humanoid character. The player's only goal is to keep the plane in the air while navigating around obstacles.
The game provides the player with two fun methods of gameplay. In Infinite Mode, they rack up points by playing for as long as possible. In Levels Mode, they fly their plane across 32 increasingly difficult levels in a variety of environments, including space, a tropical jungle and under the sea. They must complete a level to unlock the next one. In both modes, they face new obstacles with each new part of the obstacle course or level. They must not allow the plane to crash into these obstacles or walls or fly too high or drop too low. If they fail, they must restart the infinite run or level.
The player can also track their progress on a leaderboard that they access via an orange star on the home screen. The popup screen shows their score as compared to other players.
