In Papa's Taco Mia!, a restaurant-simulation, time-management game, a player via their character Mitch or Maggie decided to compete in Papa Louie's Taco Eating Contest. The character wins a gold trophy. Soon after, they learn that there was a surprise prize. Papa Louie gives them the taco shop!
The player must take orders, place the tickets on a special line, cook and cut meat, fills taco shells, add toppings and plate and serve the meals. They must also renovate the location with the tips they receive for payment, including the flooring, walls and furniture. They can decorate with a variety of items that provide equipment or score upgrades as well. For example, they can buy gold-accented utensils that speed up flipping and cutting at the grill station, signs that provide better scores for certain types of tacos and a ceiling fan, string lights, a TV, a newspaper stand and other items that improve wait scores.
If the player does well with a customer's order, they receive the best review and tips. At the end of their work day, they might also receive a promotion. Although they own the taco stand, the promotion represents an increase in knowledge and skill. They also sometimes receive new ingredients and customers.
