Papa's Freezeria asks a player to imagine that they manage a sundae shop in a tropical location. The player via their avatar, Alberto or Penny, decides to take a job with Papa Louie on Calypso Island. Their worker's guide explains that the island has a population of only 12 people. They're told that they're entirely responsible for buying and installing all restaurant upgrades and decorations. Papa Louie takes them on a tour, and then abandons them to manage the shop without any support. A cruise ship, the S.S. Louie, suddenly brings a lot of tourists to the island.
The player must manage the order, build, mix and top stations. They take the orders from customers, gather soft serve and other ingredients like fruit, chocolate and candy to blend into sundaes and then add toppings, such as cherries, cookies, sauce and sprinkles. If a customer likes the order, the character receives a positive review and high tip. At the end of the day, the game adds up all the reviews and tips. If the player did extremely well, they receive new ingredients and customers. They might also receive a career promotion. Afterward, they're given the opportunity to upgrade and decorate the shop with new equipment, posters, walls, flooring and furniture.
