On the Shelves: Product Sorting is a business-oriented sorting game. The player's goals are to earn money by organizing stock into match-3 sets on shelves in a retail or grocery store and then use the cash to customize the interior to make it more attractive to customers. They also attempt to earn three stars per level.
The game initially displays a single dark gray, metal wall-mount shelf unit with floating shelves. Each shelf has different products on it in front and back rows with some gaps. The player uses the gaps to help them rearrange the products into sets of three matching ones per shelf. When they perform a match, the game removes the products. Common items include beverages, snacks, baking goods and toys.
Over time, to make the sorting tasks more difficult, the game increases the number of shelves, units and pieces of merchandise. As a result, the player must increasingly deal with a higher number of shelves and products that appear smaller and smaller with each new level.
On the Shelves: Product Sorting rewards the player with cash hidden behind some products and a bonus at the end of each level. They earn the most money when they perform a long streak of consecutive matches.
On the retail store screen, the player uses an Editor button to display color wheels and plus sign (+) buttons to change the colors of the floors, walls and paint accents and add stands. They can also buy mystery products to put on display in the stands.
The player receives a rating for their actions in the bottom-center area of the store interior screen.
