Nuts Stack Sort: Nuts and Bolts is a sorting game that combines play elements from different types of classic sorting games. Across levels, the player sorts hexagon-shaped nuts, also known as hex nuts, to complete goals and unlock additional levels.
The player starts by sorting hex nuts in stacks on bolts in an indented table area that forms a tray. They transfer the nuts to empty gray bolts called bases in a placeholder area or a rectangular, round-cornered, color-matched box on a conveyor belt. If a box that matches some placeholder nuts slides into position, the game auto-transfers the nuts. As seen with test tube sorting games, the player also sorts the hex nuts to the placeholders to reveal the real colors of mystery nuts marked with black paint and white question marks.
Nuts Stack Sort supplies only five unused upright gray bolts above the tray as placeholders for nuts that don't match a storage box. That said, this is a trick. If the player attempts to use the fifth one, the game informs them that they must pay coins to continue playing because they've run out of space, even if an empty box that matches three of the nuts is sliding into position above the placeholder bolts.
The game provides the player with three boosters over time to help prevent this scenario. The player can undo a move, add extra placeholder bolts, and use a hint option that auto-transfers nuts into a box.
A level offers three sorting opportunities. At the end of each one, the game rewards the player with coins. The player can use a rainbow multiplier bar and ad views to increase the number. The boosters are extremely expensive, which means that it's best for the player to attempt to collect as many coins as possible via multipliers and ad views.
