Nonogram: Paint By Numbers is a coloring logic-puzzle game that has chance, cross-stitch and paint-by-numbers elements. On grid-style boards, the player uses number hints above columns and at the start of rows to paint specific cells and complete pixelated pictures.
A bunny character rewards them with coins and blue tickets. They use energy they earn, receive free, or win to access new levels. Once they receive enough blue tickets, they unlock prizes and gold tickets that allow them to progress through story scenes.
The game provides the player with three modes. With Easy, they must use -2 energy. They win +1 blue tickets. Medium difficulty games require -4 energy and reward +2 tickets. Hard ones deplete -6 energy and supply +3 tickets. In all modes, the player starts by painting as many obvious cells as possible. For example, if a 10x10 board has a 10 displayed above a column, they create a point of reference for their next moves by selecting all 10 cells.
The player must use different process-of-elimination strategies and even guesswork. That said, every time they make a wrong guess, they lose at least -1 energy. As a result, they must think carefully before performing any move. They must first try to cross-reference the numbers above a column against the ones for a specific row accurately. They also need to leave at least one unpainted X space between multiple painted sections.
Nonogram: Paint By Numbers auto-fills the Xs when the player accurately colors all cells in a row or column. Additionally, the player can direct the bunny to use a magic wand to paint accurate cells in a specific row and potions to randomly color cells.
