Nail Doctor is an educational career simulation game designed to help children learn more about the foot-related services provided by podiatrists, orthopedic surgeons and even some emergency and urgent care physicians. The game presents the foot of a patient with several concurrent problems.
After the player selects a foot based on skin tone, they're presented with a grimy foot and all the ailments centered on or near the big toe, including anthropomorphic germs, a damaged toenail, an infection with red inflammation, a cyst, a broken bone, sticky briars and an elastic band cutting off circulation. The player cleans and dries the foot thoroughly.
The player then receives access to a red medical kit labeled with a white cross that contains all the tools needed to provide treatment, such as a syringe, antibiotic cream, bandages, ice, tissues and an X-ray machine. Unlike similar games, Nail Doctor doesn't supply tweezers to remove briars or other debris. The player must remove debris by hand using the cursor and place it on a tray that appears from the left side of the screen.
Nail Doctor also doesn't delve into many long-term care scenarios. Instead, the player removes anything unhealthy, repairs the bone, wraps the toe with a cast, writes a farewell message on the cast bandages, and later removes the materials to reveal the healthy foot.
