Mushroom Blocks is a block puzzle game with sliding tile elements like Funkee Worms and Haru Panda Slide. In a blue room with mushroom-themed wallpaper and blue light fixtures glowing between mysterious wooden doors, the player attempts to create Tetris-style horizontal lines on a two-tone green 8x10 checkerboard with different sizes and types of anthropomorphic mushrooms. Their primary goals are to earn as many points and golden mushroom coins as possible.
To create lines, the player must slide mushrooms left or right to drop the pieces into gaps in the horizontal rows. With each turn, the game then slides more mushrooms onto the board from the bottom. The player must never allow the mushrooms to pile up to the top of the board. When this happens, they must start over.
Mushroom Blocks provides the player with several helpful tools, including a preview of the next horizontal row of mushrooms in a shaded area below the board and special mushroom boosters. They can use the preview to plan their next moves. They use the boosters to create lines faster and more efficiently. For example, they can use a booster to destroy a single block that's in the way or divide a mushroom into two smaller ones.
The player can buy or win booster rewards. To purchase boosters, they must use the store button in the upper-right corner. To win boosters, they must select mushrooms that appear in open doorways fast enough to earn points that charge a prize basket. They can also open doors in a separate area using tickets.
