Monsters Gold is a competitive match-3 game. The player enters the mouth of a cave system deep in an overgrown forest in search of gold, but they must defeat obstacles and fight monsters in their way. In every cave, represented by match-3 boards, they complete tasks to collect the gold and attempt to bypass other online players.
All the caves are full of gold. The player must break boxes, chains and shields and fight monsters to retrieve it. They perform these tasks by creating lines of three or more matching items. They can only make a line by swapping one item in a column or row with another item next to two adjacent matching ones. The game then removes those items. The player continues until they complete their mission.�
The game allows the player to create special destructive items as well by merging more than three items at a time. Special items include bombs, rockets and spinning tops. The player can also use boosters located below each cave board. Boosters include pickaxes that break and remove one item at a time, wrapped sticks of dynamite that explode a zone of items, a TNT blast that destroys a larger zone, and two cannons that take out a row or a column.
Monsters Gold rewards coins to the player. Eventually, it offers a bonus round in a treasury room that allows them to earn as many coins as they can with a limited number of moves. At the end of a level, they can multiply their winnings up to seven times by viewing a video. The game then shows the player their position against other players along the top of the screen.
