Mojicon Emoji Connect is a timed tile-matching game in the connect subcategory. A blue cat tasks the player with removing tiles from a field positioned in front of a school scene that features a desk covered in emoji drawings and stickers. The player can only remove the tiles in matching pairs. Their goals are to clear away all tiles and earn three yellow stars per level.
The tiles display animals, foods and other objects. In general, the player can't remove tiles with matching icons unless the tiles connect with no more than three lines that appear during the selection process. The rule is sometimes described as connecting lines with no more than two 90-degree angles. The connections can take place in side-by-side and stacked arrangements. The player can also make selections of separated tiles across gaps or openings created by matches and along the edges of a pattern.
The game offers several challenges. Beyond the connecting-line rules, the player must make all matches before they run out of time on an upper-left timer. With some levels, they must match tiles positioned around non-playable objects like wooden crates and plan several steps ahead before making selections to take into account gravitational and positioning changes.
Mojicon Emoji Connect supplies three tools in the upper-right area that make beating the short timers easier. The player can use a snowflake button to freeze the timer for a few seconds, a magnifying glass button to reveal a match, and a double twisted arrows button to rearrange the remaining tiles into more optimal positions.
If the player does well, all three blue stars in the upper-left corner turn yellow. The player also unlocks the next level.
