Merge Combo is a 2048-style merge game that offers unique sorting and other elements. In a room with light blue walls and a wooden floor, the player sorts stacks of numbered colored blocks to merge matching ones to create next-higher-number blocks. They also try to earn a high score before running out of moves.
The game displays the level number above a progress bar in the upper-left area and the player's current score in the upper-right area. The player can increase their score at any time by viewing an advertisement.
Unlike many sorting games, Merge Combo allows the player to position a block atop a non-matching block to expose one or more blocks needed for merges. It makes sorting harder level to level by adding blocks to the remaining ones from the previous level.
When the player merges two or more matching blocks, those blocks disappear, and a new block appears marked with the next number. For example, two 2 blocks merge to become a 3 block.
If a stack has a next-number block directly below one of the blocks in a pair, the new block automatically merges with it to create another new next-higher-number block. This is a "combo" move. The player progresses faster through a level and receives more points when they perform combos.
