Mecha Run is a casual running game that requires a player, via a yellow stickman with a big head, to use levers to direct a mecha around, through or over obstacles on various obstacle courses in an ocean location. The player's goal is to help the mech reach a black-and-white finish ring at the end of the track. If any obstacle damages the mech too much in any level, the player must restart the level.
The obstacle courses feature brown and gray walls, rotating saw blades and other threats. After so many levels, the player must also participate in a boss battle. The player uses levers on the mech to move it left, center or right on a course. That said, they can't always direct the mech around an danger. As a result, they must equip special abilities, tools and weapons. For example, they might equip a shockwave bonus that sends out a pulse that knocks down gray block walls, an invincible power that shields the mech or a flying drone that drops bombs. Tools and weapons include a fireball cannon, a pointed drill bit and a nitro-style engine.
Mecha Run supplies the player with new tools and weapons after every successful run. The player must watch advertisements to equip bonus abilities.
