Mansion Blast is a block-matching and renovation game that features elements similar to match-3 games. During a holiday trip, a young woman named Alice makes a surprising discovery at her grandparents' mansion. The player earns coins and stars at the end of block-matching games. They use the coins to buy boosters and the stars to perform renovations.
Unlike match-3 games, the player matches two or more adjacent color- and icon-matched blocks on a grid. The game has a pet ownership theme as well, which means that the blocks display common related icons, such as dog bones, fish snacks, paw prints, pet houses, rubber ducks and water bowls.
That said, the icons change when four or more matching blocks drop into alignment. The game presents the player with special icons and tools, including rockets that remove all blocks from columns and rows, star bombs that blast away a few blocks, and squeaky super balls that remove all of one matching type of block. When the player aligns two adjacent special items, they create powerful effects.
The player removes more than blocks with each game. For example, they might need to collect paw-shaped cookies by removing nearby blocks and help adorable kittens and large balls of yarn slide down one or more columns. Eventually, they receive access to a helpful right-side tractor booster that can remove a column and row with one move and a mallet that can remove one block.
Mansion Blast's renovation area is accessible via a lower-left checklist button. When the player pays with a star, they receive more of the story about Alice, her grandparents, the mansion and the family's love of animals. The player then perform a renovation, such as replacing the floor or furniture or installing a pet play and rest area, using one of three options.
