Mahjong Tripeaks is a tile-matching game that combines patterns of layered tiles from Chinese Mahjong with standard playing cards and Tri Peaks Solitaire rules. A player must clear the tiles from a bamboo-forest playfield across 80 levels while an adorable, smiling panda pops out to watch.
Every tile represents a card. In Solitaire TriPeaks, the player follows a high-low requirement. They must remove the next ascending or descending card from any suit on the playfield based on a face-up card to the right of a draw pile below the field. For example, if the face-up card is an Ace (A), then the player must find an available 2 or King (K) card. As with classic Mahjong, they can only select from available tiles that have a left or right edge open.
The game offers the player Jokers and boosters that don't follow the high-low requirement to make play easier. The Joker serves as a wild card that the player can use to represent any needed card. Boosters include a Boom card that acts like a bomb that takes out a few tiles and a Zap card that acts like a rocket to remove a horizontal line of cards.
Mahjong Tripeaks rewards the player with up to three stars per level. The number of stars is based on a gauge to the right of the field that doubles as a timer. The player must complete the level before the color on the gauge falls below any of the stars pinned to it. If they win the level, they also earn gold coins.
