Mahjong Match is a timed match-3 sorting game. From level to level, the player sorts piles of tiles on tabletops. Their goals are to clear the tables before they run out of time and win as many stars and coins as possible.
The tiles feature Chinese Mahjong icons, animals, beverages, foods and household items. The game releases the tiles at the start of each level using a long hose that drops down from above. It tosses tiles around until a pile forms.
The tiles face up or down or rest on sides or at odd angles. Other obstacles include an increasing number of tiles over time, tiles moving, shifting and settling into new positions, and random gold tiles dropping out of the blue onto face-up tiles. The player can track the type and number of tiles in the upper-left area.
When the player selects a tile, it transfers to a seven-slot tray below the pile. When they match three tiles, the game removes the pieces. The player should never fill the tray with non-matching tiles. That said, the game will attempt to make them think that no more spaces remain, even when they still have one empty tray slot.
Mahjong Match offers five primary boosters (i.e., flop, eliminate, magnet, shuffle and overtime) to help the player remove tiles. It also supplies a multiplier bar that increases the number of stars collected with each match during combo streak play.
Once the player wins, they can use a multiplier bar and a video to increase their winnings. Their gold collects in a piggy bank on the main screen. They collect their winnings when they reach 300 gold coins. They also receive gold by completing daily and long-term tasks that supply mission rewards and opening level and star gift boxes.
