Ludo Hero is a die-toss, cross-and-circle, racing game that simulates the classic Ludo board game. It features a white, red, green, yellow and blue board with outer and inner tracks on which two to four players race peg-style figures known as tokens from square-shaped, home positions to arrowhead-shaped, finish zones. A player can play four tokens against a computer-generated avatar (Vs Bots) or other players from around the world (Online Mode). In the latter, the player must make their move before a timer runs out or the game autoplays their turn. Ludo Hero offers idle gameplay as well. The player can turn on a feature that makes the game complete all of their moves on the board. All they need to do is watch the race!
The player starts by selecting a number of players, a mode, an avatar and a name. The game assigns them one of the colors on the board. They must roll a die to determine the number of spaces they can move during each turn. They need a six to move a token from the home position. They then take an additional turn. Otherwise, each player races their tokens via alternating turns of up to six moves per turn. The goal is to reach the inner track, the tail of their colored arrow, that leads to the arrowhead finish zone.
If another player's token falls on the same white space as one of the player's tokens, then their token returns to the home position. They must then start over from scratch with it. Their piece is safe from this rule if the token is on a space that matches their token's color and features a star design. To win the game, the player's pieces must all safely reach the finish zone based on exact throw numbers before the other player's tokens make it to their zone.
