Knife Smash is a skill game that focuses on the art of knife throwing. The player receives a specific number of knives each round. They must throw these knives at rotating disks, such as a cut wood round, a metal tire rim, a hamburger, a donut, a planet, a gauge, a vinyl record, a soccer ball, a basketball, a waffle, a cheese wheel, a watermelon and a life preserver, with precise aim every time.
The player isn't allowed to hit knives or objects other than apples. When they hit apples, they receive the fruit as a reward to use in place of coins or other money to make in-game purchases. If they hit a knife, they must restart the game unless they use some of their apples as a penalty fee to continue forward.
Knife Smash requires a player to have incredible hand-eye coordination, perfect timing and excellent physical mobility. They can't proceed to the next round of the game unless they hit the a spinning disk with every available knife. A disk always appears with at least two knives already in place. The disk might rotate slowly, quickly or vary its movements. Some disks start and stop suddenly.
The player can also upgrade their knives with apples. The game offers 16 standard knives and 16 boss-level ones.
