Kings and Queens Match 2 is the second installment of the popular fantasy match-3 game series. In the outdoor garden and landscape areas of a sprawling castle in a magical kingdom, Princess Bella asks the player once more for help with collecting items and completing other tasks on checkered boards across levels.
The player must often collect a specific number of items, such as bow ties, cut gemstones, crowns, shields and potion bottles, as indicated in an upper-center tasks area. They receive a limited number of moves in the upper-left area. They must also attempt to earn three stars per level, which they can track in the same spot.
Kings and Queens Match 2 requires the player to match three or more items to make the collections. They might also need to remove and collect obstacles or special treasures, such as grass, ice blocks, or gold trophies. When they achieve a goal, the game displays "Kings and Queens!" and clears the board of all items. The player wins points and coins.
The game offers the player powerful special items and boosters. When the player makes a line of four adjacent matching items, they create a line blast special item. An L-shape creates a cross blast. When the player aligns five identical items, they receive a rainbow-colored spiral bomb gemstone that removes all of one type of item. They can combine special items to create power-ups.
If the player merges two spiral bombs, for example, they remove all items from the table. When they merge one with a line or cross blast, they extend the same special item power to all matching non-powered items on the board. The player also eventually unlocks swap, hammer and arrow boosters.
