Jittles is a timed match-3 game that features strange, mixed-color, round-cornered anthropomorphic blocks known as jittles. The player's goal across 40 levels is to free some of these characters from colored blocks on a grid before they run out of time. They also attempt to earn a lot of points so that they can rank on worldwide leaderboards.
The initial levels attach jittles to gradient white and purple blocks. As the game progresses, it adds other colors, such as gradient white and red. The jittles, in a variety of bright colors (i.e., blue, green, light green and yellow), stand out more than the colored blocks. Additionally, the background behind the grid initially matches the white and purple ones.
As a result, the player might find it difficult to see the blocks they need to break. The game provides a goal in the upper-right area to help them know the number of blocks they've broken and the number still on the grid. The player can also review their score in the same area.
The player completes their task by swapping two non-matching adjacent jittles to form a line of three or more matching ones. The game assigns points and adds a few seconds to a yellow fluid, vertical timer bar to the right of the grid.
Jittles provides the player with boosters as well. The tools also help the player to keep the bar from losing fluid. When they form a line of four matching jittles, they create a white and purple swirl block that can remove a jittle below it. When they match five jittles, they create a plus sign with a round center and four arrowheads that can blast through a column and row. They also receive a block marked with sprinkles that can blast away a section of non-matching jittles.
