Jewel Match: Solitaire Winterscapes is a holiday-themed game that features a collection of Solitaire card games and a scene-construction element. Along a winding path through snow-covered landscapes, the player must win TriPeaks Solitaire games in Normal, Timed and Hard modes to unlock bonus games (Emperor, Blockade, Simple Simon, Carre Napoleon, Brigade, Yukon, Triple Line, Streets Redeal, Twin Queens, The Red and The Black, Q.C. Patience and Algerian Patience). They also receive opportunities to play classic games (Klondike, Spider, Freecell, Yukon, Pyramid and Baker's Dozen).
The player's main goals are to collect coins to pay for booster-style power-ups and other tools and gemstones that allow them to build various winter scenes at different locations (Winterscapes Manor, Mistydale, Icewind Castle, Galloway Grange, Thornhaven Hall and Emberstone Manor). They gather coins hidden behind cards, win coins for not using all draw-pile cards, and earn coins by watching videos.
With TriPeaks, the player finds and selects the next highest or lowest card in a standard ascending or descending sequence among face-up cards layered with face-down cards on a playfield based on the value of a foundation card next to a draw pile. To win a level, they must clear all cards from the field and collect all the gems. On many levels, they must also unlock cards sealed by keyhole locks, ice, chains, ribbons and vines via specific moves and cards.
Jewel Match: Solitaire Winterscapes prompts the player to start building a scene after they earn enough gems. Later, they can switch scenes at any time using a button on the main screen.
The game also provides the player with trophy rewards for different achievements. For example, they win rewards for achieving a combo at a specific level, replaying a level, winning bonus games or earning a specific amount of coins.
