Hexa Tap Away is a casual tile-sorting game. From level to level, the player directs arrow-marked, hexagon-shaped tiles to hop across gray spaces and off the edge of platforms. They must complete each task before they run out of a limited number of moves to win coins and unlock new levels.
The player can only direct unblocked tiles to hop away. To unblock a tile, they must first select and remove any tile that blocks the direction its arrow points that isn't blocked by another tile. If the player selects a tile that's blocked, the game penalizes them by reducing the number of moves.
The game provides the player with several challenges beyond block tiles. In some areas, for example, the player must use a central post marked with two semi-circular arrows to change the positions and arrow directions of some tiles.
Hexa Tap Away offers three boosters below each platform that eventually unlock when the player completes specific levels. With these boosters, they can use a mallet-style hammer to remove any block from a platform, a stick of TNT on a space to blast away nearby tiles, and a drill bit to drill through a platform space to create a hole.
The player uses their coin winnings to purchase additional access to these boosters when they run out of free access. They can double their coins at the end of each level by viewing an advertisement.
