Hexa Block 2048 is a block puzzle game that features hexagons, or hexas, instead of traditional square blocks. The player transfers single hexas and shapes made of multiple hexas marked with numbers onto a dark gray honeycomb-style grid. Their primary goals are to merge and evolve identical blocks to create higher-numbered ones until they make a 2048 block. They then continue merging to make a 4096 block, an 8192 block, and so on.
The player also attempts to earn coins to buy boosters that can help them. If they have an account, they attempt to compete score-wise on global and local leaderboards. Without an account, they track their score in the top-center area and their all-time score in the top-left corner.
As with other block puzzle games, the player receives the blocks and shapes in sets of three below the grid. They must transfer all blocks to the grid before they receive more. The player places two identical hexas in adjacent empty spaces to prompt the game to merge the pieces, such as two 2 hexas to form a 4 hexa, two 4 hexas to form an 8 hexa, two 8 hexas to form a 16 hexa, and so on.
Hexa Block 2048 allows the player to rotate shapes made of two or more hexas. It awards bonus points when the player completes multiple merges with a single move. It also allows them to earn coins as rewards and for ad views. They use their coins to buy boosters, including a hammer that destroys a block to free up a grid space, a hand that repositions an unmovable block, and double arrows that shuffle the set of blocks and shapes to reveal three new ones.
