Gothic Dress Up is a paper doll dress-up game with a Gothic fashion and style theme. The player helps nine Goth teenage friends select outfits that reflect modern reinterpretations of Victorian funerary clothing and Gothic art to create dark, serious everyday looks.
The player doesn't update the girls' makeup, as seen with many dress-up games. Instead, they make selections from hundreds of available items, including hair, headwear, tattoos, dresses, tops, bottoms, jackets, capes, footwear, gloves and leather vambraces. Accessories include chokers, masks, parasols, backpacks, handbags and dark wings. Background options include a room with double archways and purple walls, a pink room with heart wallpaper and sconces, and a moonlit blue room with a checkerboard floor. It's important to note that the player can't use certain items without watching advertisements.
Gothic Dress Up provides the player with a fantastic color adjustment tool near the background icon at the bottom-left corner. A round black-and-white button with a splash icon can invert the colors of any item to make it darker. The tool can also turn a background into a black-and-white photo that keeps the foreground colors and special effects.
The game has a camera button. The player can automatically download an image of a girl's look to share with friends or use as inspiration for their own Gothic style.
