Golf Orbit is a click-tap sports game with incremental elements based on golf. The player must accurately direct a golfer's swing and improve the character's strength and the ball's bounce distance to make the ball travel as far as possible and reach holes.
The player accomplishes these tasks by earning enough coins to incrementally level up specific capabilities. They earn winnings after every initial swing and putt by reaching the jackpot after so many attempts. They also earn coins by making a hole with fewer swings, such as with a birdie, an eagle or an albatross. When they perform the latter, they receive a multiplier.
The game only allows the player to direct the golfer's initial swing by interacting with the screen at the exact right moment to stop an arrow on a color-coded gauge. They achieve a perfect swing when they stop the arrow in a green area. They also direct the character to putt using a modified system similar to mini-golf games. If they fail, they can try again with an ad view.
Once the ball goes sailing into the air in Golf Orbit during a perfect swing, it becomes a fireball. It can then literally achieve orbit past satellites, rocket ships and famous objects like Star Wars' Death Star.�
When the player achieves specific goals, they unlock new golfers, including a Scotsman and a seahorse in an environmental suit. If they play a spin wheel, they win diamonds and new balls. Over time, they can unlock not only new balls but also new outdoor environments.
