Forest Tiles is a block puzzle game with brick-breaker elements. Across levels, the player attempts to earn the highest score possible by using polyomino shapes to create nine-block lines on a 9x9 board. The player's secondary goal is to collect a specific number of stars per level. If they ever run out of moves, they use the stars to continue playing without starting over.
The player receives three sets of shapes to the right of the board at a time. They align the shapes on the board to create the horizontal and vertical lines. They must use each set of three before more appear. They track the level, score and highest score in the upper-left area.
Forest Tiles offer unique play with its brick-breaker elements. The game places star blocks randomly on the board in each new level. Each star displays a number. The player must create lines around these stars to reduce the number.
Every line reduces the number on a star block by negative one (-1). If the game displays two star blocks side by side on a row or stacked in a column, it removes the negative one (-1) from both blocks at the same time with the removal of one line. After the player collects all star blocks, they move on to the next level.
